Recognizing the Entrepreneurs of the Past

On the first day of National Entrepreneurship Week, students from Owatonna High School will be traveling to the Steele County Historical Center to view an entrepreneurship presentation, learn how to make a "Gandy Wheel", an invention created in Steele County, and meet local entrepreneurs. Lunch will be provided for the students, and they will be provided t-shirts commemorating the week. Mayor Tom Kuntz will open the day with a proclamation for National Entrepreneurship Week. 

Note - this event is closed to the public this year, and focused on student studies

  • 9:45am students will be picked up by bus at OHS​

  • 10:00am Students arrive at Steele County Historical Center and can pick up their t-shirts​

  • 10:00 – 10:15am Mayor Tom Kuntz proclamation

  • 10:15 – 10:35am Hall of Fame inductee Tom Peterson video on Climate by Design.

  • 10:35 – 11:15am Jerry Ganfield presentation “How the Gandy Wheel was developed and why”

  • 11:15 – 12:00 Tanya Henson will present on Hat Chic Clothing​

  • 12:00 – 12:30pm Mike Jensen will present on Tri M Graphics during lunch

  • 12:00 – 12:45pm Lunch​

  • 12:45 – 1:30pm Reagan West will present on Owatonna Fitness​

  • 1:30 – 2:00pm Students will get to construct a Gandy Wheel

  • 2pm Adjourn for the day

  • 2:15pm Students arrive back at OHS
